About

Most things that are wonderful about London are cheap or free. The Frugal London web site aims to document that assertion, over time, in as many ways as possible.

Frugal London is for travelers who prize value — the best experiences at the least cost. Sometimes, this means “luxury on a budget,” like where to find a three-course lunch in a Michelin-starred restaurant for $23. Or, where to see the world’s finest collection of Turner paintings — for free. Or, how to book a spotless, quiet, en-suite bath, air-conditioned, central London hotel room for $37. And so forth.

Here’s the standard: $100 per person, per day for everything, including lodging.

You’ll find advice about logistics: transportation, lodging, food. But you’ll also find advice about exploring London, about taking advantage of its cultural riches, and about engaging with its people.

Still to come: More links, photos, maps and social networking tools.

Please offer your comments, share your experiences, provide your advice.
